A Teacher/Mom’s Perspective: The Covid-19 Slide
The other day, I was having lunch at a local restaurant where I overheard a couple of other moms talking about their children going back to school. One of the moms shared that she was worried that her children would be behind. Her friend asked, "Behind what? Covid-19 affected everyone."
So, she's correct . . . to a point. After all, we're a global society and Covid-19 didn't affect some areas like it affected ours. Some continued private schooling for their children. Still others continued having their children work with certified teachers at Best Brains. These children continued their growth in math, reading, and writing throughout the spring and into summer. Six months of learning can make a world of difference in a child’s abilities; if you think about it, that time period is almost an entire school year.
As the new school year begins, I'm hearing from many parents who tell me how grateful they are that their children are ahead of their classmates, and that while the world paused, their children still learned consistently. They're excited that their children are working quite a bit above grade level, because it can have a huge impact on their futures. It's wonderful to hear their optimism for the future in a time that is fraught with pessimism and we are grateful to be a part of it.
This enthusiasm for learning is why we became teachers. It's invigorating to help influence a child's successes and to help make hopes, dreams, and goals a reality. Our programs can help you and your children meet your goals, too. Discover the difference by making an appointment to meet with us (also certified teachers) today!
