Portage

I am a retired educator having taught for 40 years- 10 years at St. Margaret School in Otsego and 30 years for Allegan Public Schools- serving as a Reading Specialist and lower elementary classroom teacher.  I have a BA and MA in Elementary Education and Elementary Reading.  Since retiring in 2019, I have been a Substitute Teacher for Portage Public Schools. I joined Best Brains to use my extensive knowledge, background and experience of teaching to benefit students.  I am married, have two adult sons and two grandsons.  I have also been a lifelong Portage resident, attended and graduated from Portage Northern High School and did my Student Teaching in Portage.

I’m excited to join the Best Brains team. I hold a Ph.D. in Environmental Stress Biology, along with degrees in Education and Biological Sciences, and I am licensed by the Michigan Department of Education. I have over eight years of experience teaching science, math, and English, including two years as a preschool lead teacher. What I value most in teaching is building strong connections with students and supporting both their academic and personal growth. In my free time, I enjoy traveling home to India to spend time with my parents, siblings, and childhood friends.

I am a Computer Science major at Kalamazoo College, and I love to program and help others learn too. I am very passionate about academics, riding horses, and playing the occasional video game.
