Hello! My name is Misty Welburn and I am thrilled to be a part of the Best Brains team. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University and am a licensed teacher in the state of Michigan.  I have been a dedicated and passionate teacher for the past 20 years and have experience teaching all subjects. What I have enjoyed most about teaching is the connections and relationships that I have built with the students throughout my career, as well as fostering both academic and personal growth within the students I have had the pleasure of working with. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling up north with my husband and our two labs, spending time with our adult children, and gardening along with canning the produce from my garden. I am excited to begin working with the children at Best Brains while building successful skills and relationships!

Hello, Grew up in the small town of Chelsea, raising lambs. The money went to college. I went to Jackson Community College and Western Michigan University. I taught K-3rd graders and substituted through 6th grade. I've lived in Richland for 20 years and am married with 3 step-children and 2 shelties. I spend my time reading, writing, and going on nature walks.

I am a retired educator having taught for 40 years- 10 years at St. Margaret School in Otsego and 30 years for Allegan Public Schools- serving as a Reading Specialist and lower elementary classroom teacher.  I have a BA and MA in Elementary Education and Elementary Reading.  Since retiring in 2019, I have been a Substitute Teacher for Portage Public Schools. I joined Best Brains to use my extensive knowledge, background and experience of teaching to benefit students.  I am married, have two adult sons and two grandsons.  I have also been a lifelong Portage resident, attended and graduated from Portage Northern High School and did my Student Teaching in Portage.
