Hi, I’m Brandy! I love helping students grow in confidence and enjoy learning. I specialize in English and elementary to middle school math, using patient, personalized lessons that make learning engaging and fun. With a strong background in communication and working with diverse communities, I strive to create a supportive environment where every student can succeed.

Raised in Oklahoma, Shannon James earned her Bachelor of Arts with Honors in English from Oklahoma State University. She is a certified special education teacher and dyslexia provider currently serving students at a local middle school. Prior to her current role, she worked as a preschool facilitator, building a strong foundation in early childhood education. With years of experience supporting children of all ages, Shannon is passionate about helping every student reach their full potential.

One of the most rewarding aspects of teaching for Shannon is witnessing the moment when a student gains confidence through understanding—a memorable "aha" moment that inspires her every day. She especially enjoys teaching phonics and grammar in English and helping students develop problem-solving skills in math, particularly when solving for unknown variables.

Shannon and her family have called the Austin area home for the past 16 years. Outside the classroom, they enjoy traveling across the United States in search of new adventures at theme parks. To date, they have visited 26 different theme parks, making travel one of their favorite family traditions.
