New Year... New You?

Feb 01, 2022

Here we are! We are officially a month into 2022. One question though… how is your new year’s resolution going?

Unfortunately, nearly 80% of people abandon their New Year’s Resolutions every year. So does this make these resolutions completely pointless, or is there any sort of benefit to them?

The real question is, why does one day of the year have any significant difference from any other day of the year? Life will always have setbacks, no matter what time of the year it is. These setbacks get in the way of goals that we work towards, but this should be seen as a good thing rather than a bad thing! Every single day holds so much opportunity to learn new skills, find more lessons, and reach more goals.

A New Year’s Resolution is the exact same as making any goal any other day. Goals and resolutions give hope that there is always a possibility for change and growth.

Here are some ways to help to make your New Year’s Resolution a bit more effective this time around:

  1. Use adding instead of restricting. For example, think about trying to incorporate more family time rather than less screen time. It is human nature to have a distaste for restriction, so rewording it in a way that feels less confining can help tremendously.
  2. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Remember that goals take time and they won’t be solved overnight.
  3. Treat every day like a fresh start, not just January 1st. Just because you break your goal for one day doesn’t make you a failure. Tomorrow is a new day!

What is your resolution this year? Let us know!
