As we have seen over the course of this spring and summer, in an unprecedented situation, there is a lot of guesswork. Everyone is doing the best they can to cope during this “collective trauma” and a little kindness can go a long way.

Kindness towards ourselves

As parents, it’s easy to start feeling guilty for not providing the best for our children. However, since we have little control over the situation, our response is what matters. As our children look to us for answers, do we want to model despair and show them we cannot give ourselves a break? Or would we rather do what we want them to be doing?

It's completely okay to be honest about how we feel and admit that these are difficult times, but as a kindness to ourselves, we shouldn't take on more than we can handle. If you are finding it difficult to find the time and energy to teach your children this upcoming school year, we understand. We have years of experience and resources under our belt and are more than willing to help! If your children are struggling in math or English, we have you covered! Currently we have in-person and remote classes available.

Children will not learn if they are not interested or engaged. That is why we boast about hiring certified teachers. It is literally our job to help children love learning and the rest will follow. There are a lot more companies popping up all over offering help to children, so vet them thoroughly. Now more than ever, children need teachers and not just supervision; someone who understands the children and their needs.

Realizing this situation is equally unprecedented for the schools and the teachers will make it easier to be kind to them. They must not only ensure the safety of your child but hundreds of others which can be quite the daunting task. Everyone is trying their best during these tough times. Meanwhile, smaller institutions like our tutoring center have been doing our best to accommodate a safe learning environment.
