Meet Ms. Emily – Teacher at Best Brains Burlington – Brant Hills

Hi! I’m Emily, and I’m currently in my third year of teaching with the Halton District School Board. I’ve worked with students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 across Milton, Oakville, and Burlington, giving me a deep understanding of diverse learning needs, study habits, and academic challenges. This experience helps me support students effectively in our tutoring programs in Burlington, especially in small-group settings where kids receive personalized attention.

Along with my classroom experience, I’ve also provided one-on-one and small-group tutoring, helping students strengthen their skills in Math, English, and overall academic foundations. I love creating a calm, positive, and engaging environment - something our after-school tutoring at Best Brains is known for.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy hiking, travelling, and spending time outdoors. I bring that same curiosity, patience, and encouragement into every session at Best Brains Burlington – Brant Hills. My goal is simple: to help each student feel confident, supported, and excited to learn.

I’m proud to be part of a learning center that helps children build strong study habits, improve academic skills, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Zoya Arshed - Homework Grader & Academic Support Assistant

Our Homework Grader plays a key role in ensuring every student receives consistent, high-quality academic feedback each week. She is a Grade 9 student with a strong academic foundation, a genuine love for working with children, and prior volunteer experience in kids’ programs.

Each week, she carefully reviews and marks all homework booklets that students complete at home, ensuring:

• Accuracy in math calculations

• Correctness in language and writing exercises

• Completion of assigned work

• Clear identification of areas that need improvement

Her detailed and consistent grading helps our instructors:

• Track student progress week over week

• Identify learning gaps early

• Personalize in-class instruction more effectively

Despite her young age, she is responsible, detail-oriented, and highly patient, making her especially approachable for younger students. Her experience volunteering with children has helped her develop strong communication skills, empathy, and an encouraging approach that supports student confidence.

Parents appreciate knowing that homework is not just completed—but reviewed, assessed, and supported as part of a structured learning process.
